The actual number of Kyrgyzstan gambling dens is something in question. As information from this country, out in the very most interior section of Central Asia, tends to be awkward to receive, this may not be too difficult to believe. Regardless if there are 2 or three accredited gambling halls is the item at issue, maybe not quite the most consequential piece of information that we don’t have.

What will be credible, as it is of most of the ex-Soviet states, and definitely accurate of those in Asia, is that there will be a lot more not legal and clandestine gambling dens. The switch to authorized wagering didn’t energize all the aforestated gambling halls to come away from the dark and become legitimate. So, the contention over the number of Kyrgyzstan’s gambling dens is a minor one at most: how many accredited ones is the thing we’re trying to reconcile here.

We know that in Bishkek, the capital municipality, there is the Casino Las Vegas (an amazingly original name, don’t you think?), which has both table games and video slots. We can additionally find both the Casino Bishkek and the Xanadu Casino. Each of these have 26 slots and 11 table games, split amongst roulette, chemin de fer, and poker. Given the amazing likeness in the size and floor plan of these 2 Kyrgyzstan gambling dens, it may be even more surprising to see that both are at the same address. This appears most difficult to believe, so we can clearly conclude that the number of Kyrgyzstan’s gambling dens, at least the accredited ones, is limited to 2 members, 1 of them having adjusted their name not long ago.

The state, in common with nearly all of the ex-Soviet Union, has experienced something of a rapid adjustment to capitalistic system. The Wild East, you might say, to reference the anarchical ways of the Wild West a century and a half back.

Kyrgyzstan’s gambling halls are actually worth going to, therefore, as a piece of social research, to see money being bet as a type of social one-upmanship, the apparent consumption that Thorstein Veblen wrote about in 19th century usa.
